Joel Hayworth is the Senior Pastor of FBC Salem, Missouri. Prior to coming to First Baptist, he served as Pastor of Morgan Baptist Church in Conway, Missouri, and in various capacities at FBC Ozark, Missouri. Joel is married to his high school crush, Lindsey, and they have two sons (Gabriel & Isaiah). As a family, they like to be outdoors, play and watch sports, support our Salem Tigers, and make memories with friends and family!

Joel is an avid reader and is currently pursuing a PhD in Preaching from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. When he’s not at church or with his family, he likes to golf, talk sports, eat chocolate chip cookies, and spend time getting to know the people of Dent County.

Joel’s favorite Bible verse has changed over the years between Hebrews 10:14 and Romans 8:28. His oldest son, Gabriel, was born on 8/28, and that always serves as a reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness, even in the difficult seasons of life as Romans 8:28 says, “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”

There are many amazing things about the people and ministry that take place at FBC Salem, but the thing that Pastor Joel loves the most is that the congregation loves the Word of God! Lots of things change in life and in ministry, but God’s Word remains the same. Pastor Joel takes his calling from God to shepherd this church seriously and to always point people to the truth of God’s Word. Pastor Joel’s mission is to preach the full counsel of God’s Word and lead FBC Salem to make a dent in Dent County for the glory of God! We would love for you to be a part of that process with us.
